I do this regularly, but was reminded recently by the Productivity Queen Ruth Klein, that I could really make a difference in my business if I did more of it. The teacher becomes the student – AGAIN! LOL
The fact of the matter is I love my work but I love lots of other things too so I want lots of time to do them. This means hyper-efficiency in every area I can. Also delegation but thats another subject.
I am juggling several projects at this moment in time, more than I ever have actually. When I write it all down on one piece of paper it could easily become overwhelming. Where to start?
The reality is I started them all at different times and each are at different places in their process, but I can easily forget that I may not actually be doing anything active on any particular one but maybe waiting for a response from someone. But there is something to be said for preparation and systems and working smart, which is where leveraging comes into play here.
I am doing some interviews for a summit this fall and there are several steps involved in each. The reality is no matter how many people I am interviewing, the process is exactly the same. I need the same information from each person and I will have the same personal introduction and closing, and they will provide me with some critical info like their introduction and maybe a few key questions they want to ask.
Once I have done the first one, I now have a template, or system that I can use over and over again. Even the questions I ask can be from a list I can modify or add to based on the subject I am interviewing the guest on, but the work is done once then it only takes maybe a 15 minute prep before the interview and VOILA! MAGIC! Pop it all into a file or binder and All Systems Go!
Leveraging your systems is all about taking the time to do it right the first time so you can use it over and over again. then you may even be able to use some part of it in another area like your blogs or the recording could be a free gift with another program you are launching or bundled or all kinds of ways to reuse something you spent the time and energy creating.
