From Chaos to Freedom!

Does Your Reality Really Suck Way Too Often?

Life is so crazy busy you can hardly stop to check if you are still breathing! Imagine looking at your life and seeing something different? Imagine being able to stop to smell the roses, have a relaxed dinner with the family or friends. How about waking up feeling rested and ready for the day and actually looking forward to all of it!

Seems impossible, you say. Well if you continue the way you are now it certainly isn’t. What if you take a step back and took the time for a hard look at the choices you are making and why they are what you picked? Maybe there is another way! I can tell you that there is and my clients have experienced the freedom of fixing their pickers.

One of my dear clients Jane (not her real name) has a family, spouse, home and a thriving business. Feeling overwhelmed she wanted to figure out how to get more done and where to put the time she had.

As I see regularly, Jane tried to stuff 40 hours of work into a 24-hour day and was sleep deprived with a young family, to boot! Many of us try to stuff a week’s worth of tasks into a single day then drop into bed so ridiculously exhausted and don’t even feel accomplished as every day is just like the last! This is an issue with executives, entrepreneurs, business owners, and perfectionists, overachievers everywhere along with moms and dads with young families to mention just a few.

The reality is no matter your position in life and how wonderful or professional you are, you only have two hands at most and 24 hours in a day. We do need some of our valuable time to sleep and reenergize for the next day. The amount of sleep you need may differ from the averages, but be sure to get it consistently even if its only six hours. Eight to nine hours of sleep is better and restorative. Okay, I hear you all laughing!

Jane wanted to know how one juggles it all and get’s it done without feeling so guilty. I am a productivity coach and the reality of only having 24 hours per day leaves many feeling deprived. How about a different feeling, relief!

What if you filtered your tasks better so your priorities were easier to recognize? What if you were able to easily see what is truly important to you and made all of your decisions from that perspective? Seem like a fairy tale?

Jane has a few words here;

“Tammy, this workshop blew my mind. The exercises and your guidance allowed me to see what I can realistically expect to accomplish in my workweek and in my family life. I am now able to easily discern what needs to be done and what can wait. That alone has increased my productivity and I saw the results in my life immediately. My family and bank account thank you.”

I know there are many processes for sorting priorities, I have used and taught many of them. This goes deeper and is the primary step, typically missing from most of them.

It is so easy to get stuck in reactive mode putting out fires and working through the list to a more manageable length each day, but that list never really shrinks, does it. You get up and start all over again until you feel like a gerbil on a wheel getting nowhere fairly quickly.

Flipping a coin or putting all your urgent items into a hat is most likely not the solution. So how do you choose whether you go to that school function you promised or drop it because you have a potential client who wants to see you ASAP? I know that this may not be an easy decision right now but it could be. This is very important and not taken lightly which is why taking the time to work through what is really important to you in all situations is imperative and time well spent.

Taking the time to get clear right now will make each decision simple and easy. This is well worth every moment you give it now. Think of the relief!

By the way, Jane called this a “freaking magic trick!” (Almost her exact words) You can always just give me a call or drop me a line.

To living the life you love and finally loving the life you live.

As always, Tammy Rowland
